Recipe story

A jam tart recipe that's simply irresistible. This dessert is very easy to prepare and, as they say, made from ingredients already on hand at home.

Ingredients

  • Strawberry jam:
  • 500 g strawberries
  • 200 g sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Tart dough:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup soft butter, at room temperature
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons milk powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons flour (to add to the top portion of the dough)

Method

  1. First, prepare the jam: place the strawberries and sugar in a pot and let them sit together for 4 hours.
    Timers: 240 min
  2. After the time has passed, place the pot over the heat, add the lemon juice, and let the mixture simmer for half an hour over low heat.
  3. Let the jam cool to room temperature. You can also use ready-made jam or any other available type of jam.
  4. Prepare the tart dough: in a bowl, mix the dry ingredients, then add the butter and eggs and knead.
  5. Knead well until you get a sticky dough. You can add a little cold water if the dough is too firm.
  6. Let the tart dough rest in the refrigerator for one hour.
  7. After the time has passed, line a tart pan or a small baking tray with parchment paper and also grease it with butter.
  8. Take a little more than half of the dough and press it out by hand on the parchment paper, or roll it between two sheets of parchment, then transfer it into the pan.
  9. Prick the dough with a fork, then spread it with the jam.
  10. Take the remaining dough, add 2 tablespoons flour, knead well, then roll it out and cut it into long strips.
  11. Arrange the strips across and lengthwise to get a tart decorated with a lattice pattern.
  12. Bake the jam tart in a hot oven at medium temperature on the rack and bake until the dough is browned on the bottom, then brown it from the top.
  13. Let the tart cool to room temperature before slicing and serving.
