Savory kaak, a successful and easy homemade recipe

Ingredients

  • Half a kilo of flour
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon anise
  • 1 medium tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon fennel
  • 1 teaspoon mahleb
  • 1 cup olive oil + vegetable oil
  • Nigella seeds
  • Sesame seeds

Method

  1. Mix the dry ingredients except the yeast, then add the oil and mix.
  2. Add the yeast and mix, then gradually add the water and knead well for about 10 minutes.
    Timers: 10 min
  3. Let the dough rest for 1 hour.
    Timers: 60 min
  4. After the time has passed, shape the kaak as desired or as shown in the picture.
  5. Bake the kaak in the oven on a rack over medium heat for about 12 minutes only.
    Timers: 12 min
  6. Lightly brown the top for just 1 minute.
    Timers: 1 min
  7. Serve the savory kaak at room temperature.
