How to Make Qashatliya Halva
Qashatliya Halva is a cold, incredibly delicious dessert. The key is that it’s very easy to prepare. It relies on milk, starch, and pistachios, and its texture stays soft like jelly when served.

Ingredients

- 2 cups powdered milk
- 6 cups water
- 4 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon rose water or orange blossom water
- ground pistachios
- Syrup
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Mix the milk with water and place them in a nonstick saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly
- Dissolve the starch in a separate bowl with a little water until it reaches the consistency of tahini sauce
- When the milk begins to boil, add the starch immediately and continue stirring
- Let the mixture boil for about 5 to 10 minutes, stirringTimers: 10 min
- When the mixture thickens slightly, add rose water or orange blossom water, stir, then remove it immediately from the heat
- Pour it into a baking dish or Pyrex and sprinkle ground pistachios on top
- When it cools, refrigerate it for no less than 4 hours before servingTimers: 240 min
- Serve qashatliya halva with sugar syrup (qatr) or shireh
- Note: qashatliya halva has a slightly soft texture, almost like jello or jelly
