Recipe story

Lasagna with ground beef, homemade style, and nothing beats it

Ingredients

  • 1 pack lasagna sheets
  • Grated cheese for the top
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Oil
  • 500 g ground beef
  • A pinch of seven-spice blend
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • A pinch of paprika
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • Dried thyme or oregano
  • 2 grated carrots
  • 2 grated tomatoes
  • Chopped colored bell pepper
  • 1 can cooked corn
  • 1 can mushrooms or 1 cup fresh mushrooms
  • Tomato sauce, or water + tomato paste
  • Salt
  • Béchamel:
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 liter liquid milk or 4 cups
  • A pinch of white pepper

Method

  1. First, we start by making the red sauce... sauté the chopped onion with the minced garlic in a little oil until softened
  2. Add the ground beef and spices, and stir until the meat dries out. Then add the dried thyme, grated carrots, chopped bell pepper, grated tomatoes, corn, and mushrooms, and stir
  3. When the vegetables soften slightly, add the tomato sauce, or water mixed with tomato paste, and salt, and stir
  4. Let the red sauce simmer over low heat until it thickens
  5. In another pot, prepare the béchamel sauce... add the butter and flour and stir with a spoon until they form a dough-like mixture
  6. Gradually add the milk in batches, lowering the heat and stirring constantly
  7. When the béchamel thickens, add the salt and white pepper, stir, and turn off the heat
  8. Prepare the baking dish and spread a ladleful of béchamel on the bottom, then arrange a layer of lasagna sheets (without boiling them first), then a layer of tomato sauce, then a layer of béchamel, then lasagna sheets again, and so on until all the mixture is used up. You can also add a layer of grated cheese between the layers
  9. Cover the baking dish and set it aside for 1 to 2 hours so the lasagna sheets absorb the liquids and soften
    Timers: 120 min
  10. After the time has passed, sprinkle cheese over the top of the lasagna and place the baking dish in a hot oven at 180°C until the cheese melts and turns lightly golden
