Egg pie... delicious, nutritious, and satisfying for breakfast. Here is the dough with two different fillings

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup very cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons ice-cold water
  • Filling:
  • Grated cheese
  • Sausage
  • 4 eggs
  • Or
  • 500 g mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 small onions, peeled
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • A pinch of oregano or dried thyme
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper

Method

  1. In a bowl, place the flour, salt and butter and rub them together well.
  2. Add the ice-cold water and work the dough well.
  3. Divide the dough into four portions, put them in a bag and refrigerate for about half an hour.
  4. Roll out the dough on a clean surface, sprinkle the cheese, distribute the sausage and fold the edges over as shown in the picture.
  5. Brush the surface with a beaten egg.
  6. Place it in a hot oven at 200°C for about ten minutes.
  7. Remove it and place the eggs on top, then return it to the oven until the eggs are cooked.
  8. We can prepare another filling for the same pie:
  9. In a skillet, heat the oil and sauté the sliced onions until they soften.
  10. Add slices of garlic and sauté.
  11. Add sliced mushrooms and stir until they soften.
  12. Sprinkle salt and pepper, 1 tablespoon soy sauce and a pinch of oregano, and cook for about five minutes only.
  13. Let the filling cool, then follow the same steps described earlier for the dough and baking, replacing the sausage in the previous pie with this filling.
