Homemade Sausage (Sujuk)
Homemade sujuk — a spiced, flavorful sausage you can make at home to control quality and taste. Delicious served in sandwiches or with flatbread.

Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- Onion wedges
- Sliced mixed bell peppers
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- A small coffee cup of pomegranate molasses
- Salt
- Small cherry tomatoes — optional
- Sausage seasoning
- 500 g lean beef, finely minced
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon paprika (or sweet red pepper powder)
- 1 tablespoon black pepper (ground)
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice (or sweet spice)
- 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried coriander
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger or a pinch of freshly grated ginger
- Salt and hot pepper to taste

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Mix the meat with all the sujuk spices very well until fully combined.
- Shape the meat into the desired forms, then fry the homemade sujuk in a little olive oil over medium heat.
- Add onion wedges, then slices of colorful peppers and sauté.
- When the vegetables soften, add balsamic vinegar, stir, and leave the homemade sujuk to cook over low heat.
- After a little while, sprinkle pomegranate molasses, then salt to taste, and cook the sujuk for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally. Cherry tomatoes can also be added at this stage.
- Serve the homemade sujuk as sandwiches on French bread or battut bread, or as desired.
