Recipe story
Homemade pizza sauce, easy to make
Ingredients
- 5 kilos red, ripe tomatoes
- 2 large dried onions
- 6 cloves garlic
- 3 tablespoons oregano
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 2 tablespoons sweet paprika or ground sweet red pepper
- 1 tablespoon dried marjoram, finely ground
- 2 tablespoons dried basil, finely ground
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup ketchup
- Olive oil
Method
- Wash the tomatoes, remove the cores, and drain them.
- Process them in a blender until they become like tomato juice.
- Strain through a fine sieve and set the juice aside.
- Finely chop the onion, then sauté it in a pot with a little oil until golden.
- Add the finely minced garlic and sauté until soft.
- Add the tomato juice and stir from time to time until it comes to a boil.
- When boiling, add oregano, salt, paprika, marjoram, basil, sugar, and ketchup, then stir well.
- Let the pizza sauce simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally.
- When the sauce thickens, remove it from the heat, pour it hot into sterilized, dry jars or glass containers, brush a thin layer of olive oil over the surface, and seal the jars tightly when the sauce cools... or you can let the pizza sauce cool, then place it in special freezer bags and store it in the freezer for later use.
