- 3 cups white flour
- 1 cup chickpea flour
- 1 cup powdered milk
- 2 cups sugar, or to taste
- 3 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon turmeric or yellow spice
- 3 cups water
- 1/2 cup oil
- 2 tablespoons yogurt / optional
- 1 tablespoon tahini to grease the pan
- Nuts, as desired, for garnish
Method
- Mix the liquid ingredients, then add the sugar and whisk well until it dissolves. Add the dry ingredients and mix well until you get a smooth batter.
- Grease a baking pan with tahini, pour in the safouf mixture, then decorate the top with nuts. Place the safouf in a preheated oven at 180 degrees.
- Place the pan on the middle rack of the oven. Leave the safouf for about 40 minutes until it is cooked through and dry.Timers: 40 min
- Serve the safouf once it has cooled, and enjoy it with a cup of tea or coffee.
