Easy Maakaroon Dessert

Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 kg (500 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 kg fine semolina (or "farikha" flour)
- 1 tbsp ground anise
- 1 tbsp yeast dissolved in 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 cup water
- oil for frying
- syrup (qatir or shira)

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Put the white flour together with farikha flour and mix them, then add the melted butter with the oil and mix.
- Add the sugar, anise, and the yeast mixture and mix.
- Add 1 cup water and knead well.
- Divide the dough into equal balls and shape the pieces by passing them over the surface of a plastic sieve to get the desired shape so they become oval.
- Heat the oil in a deep pan and fry the Maakaroon sweets until the pieces turn golden.
- Remove the Maaaring pieces from the oil and drain them.
- After draining the oil, place the Maakaroon sweets in the hot syrup.
- Drain them from the syrup and serve them cold at room temperature.
