Sayadiyah is one of the distinctive dishes in our Arab kitchen. Did you know that sayadiyah rice is delicious with tarator?... Here is our new recipe for making a tasty and easy sayadiyah
Ingredients
- 1 kilo fish, or as desired
- Marinade:
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon seven-spice
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons fish seasoning
- For frying the fish:
- Flour
- Sayadiyah rice:
- 1 medium onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 cups basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes in lukewarm salted water
- 1 teaspoon fish seasoning
- 1 large tablespoon butter
- Fried onion slices for garnish
Method
- Wash the fish well with vinegar, lemon, salt, and water... let it drain, then marinate it
- Mix all the marinade ingredients and rub the fish with it inside and out
- Leave the fish to marinate for about an hour
- Coat the fish in flour on both sides just before frying
- Fry the fish in plenty of hot oil over low heat
- In a pot, add about 1/4 cup of the oil used for frying the fish
- Chop the onion and add it to the oil, then stir in the minced garlic as well until they turn golden well
- Drain the rice that was previously soaked, add it to the pot over the onion and garlic, and stir
- Adjust the salt and add the spices mentioned for sayadiyah, then stir
- After 2 minutes, cover the rice with water. Once it boils, reduce the heat, cover the pot, and let the rice cook throughTimers: 2 min
- Add the tablespoon of butter on top and turn off the heat under the sayadiyah
- Remove the bones from the fish, add the pieces to the rice and gently mix, then serve the sayadiyah... or you can spoon the rice onto the serving dish and arrange the fish pieces on top
- Garnish the sayadiyah with the fried onion
