Ingredients

  • 3 cups white flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • Filling:
  • 1/2 kilo dates
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water

Method

  1. Mix all the dough ingredients. Start with the dry ingredients, then add the water and oil until a smooth, homogeneous dough forms. Cover it and let it rest while you prepare the date filling.
  2. Place the dates with the butter in the microwave until the butter melts and the dates soften.
  3. Knead the dates and butter with the cinnamon and orange blossom water.
  4. Roll the dough into a rectangle, shape the date mixture into a long rope, place the date rope on the rectangle, then fold or roll it into fingers and cut to the desired size.
  5. Bake the date fingers in a preheated oven for 10 minutes at 180°C.
  6. You can brush the date fingers with an egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds before baking.
