One of our favorite recipes always, anywhere and anytime! It is known as Kaak al-Esruni, but try it for breakfast with cheese and labneh, and it will stay in memory for a long time.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup grape molasses
  • Toasted sesame seeds

Method

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, yeast, yogurt, and salt; combine the ingredients and begin adding the water and knead the mixture.
  2. Knead the mixture and let it ferment well.
  3. Divide the dough into medium-sized balls and roll each ball into a long rope, fold it in half, twist it over itself, and press the ends together.
  4. Add 3 tablespoons of water to the grape molasses to thin its consistency. Dip the dough rounds in the molasses solution and then roll them in toasted sesame.
  5. Place the dough rounds on a baking tray and bake them in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20 minutes or until they brown.
