Ingredients

  • 700 grams chicken fillets
  • 4 medium tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup raw cashews
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup cooking cream
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon masala spice blend
  • 1 tablespoon chicken seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger, or 1 tablespoon freshly grated or ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • salt to taste
  • Note: Using oil is optional, and the amount can be replaced with butter

Method

  1. Cut the chicken into cubes
  2. Mix the masala, chicken seasoning, and paprika, then take 1 tablespoon of the mixture, along with 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and add them to the chicken.
  3. Add the vinegar as well, mix, and leave to marinate for half an hour
  4. In a skillet or pot, add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon oil, then add the chicken and stir over medium heat until cooked
  5. In another pot, add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon oil, then stir the finely chopped onion and garlic until softened
  6. Add the peeled tomatoes, cut into cubes, and stir
  7. Add the remaining masala, chicken seasoning, paprika, black pepper, ginger, hot chili powder (optional), tomato paste, and 1 cup water, and let them simmer briefly
  8. Add the yogurt and let it simmer briefly as well, then add the cashews and let the mixture simmer again until it thickens
  9. Once the mixture has thickened, blend it, then return it to the pot and add the cooked chicken on top. Let everything simmer together for 5 minutes
    Timers: 5 min
  10. Finally, add the cooking cream and turn off the heat after butter chicken has boiled for 2 more minutes
  11. Serve white rice alongside butter chicken
