Beef sambousek with mushrooms and cheese — a tasty, inventive recipe. The filling doesn't have to be limited to meat and onions — see how

Ingredients

  • 200 g ground beef
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 100 g fresh mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp seven-spice blend
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric (for color)
  • salt
  • 1 tbsp pomegranate molasses
  • Two portions of cream cheese (like Kiri) or any available type

Method

  1. Sauté the ground beef in 1/4 cup oil. When the meat changes color, add the chopped onion.
  2. Add the chopped mushrooms and continue cooking until the filling is done.
  3. Add the spices, salt and pomegranate molasses, stir, then remove from the heat and drain off excess oil.
  4. Stir in the cream cheese until well combined.
  5. Use pre-made dough. Roll it out, cut, fill and seal as desired.

  7. Place the filled pieces on an oiled baking tray.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 12 minutes with top and bottom heat — watch carefully, as baking time varies by oven.
