  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • Vanilla
  • 3/4 cup lukewarm milk
  • 75 g soft butter at room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Pastry cream:
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Vanilla
  • Syrup:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3½ cups water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method

  1. Mix the flour with the yeast, sugar, eggs, vanilla, warm milk, and salt in an electric mixer until you get a very sticky dough... add the butter and continue mixing the dough for 2 or 3 minutes.

  2. Place the dough in a bowl, cover it, and leave it in a warm place until it rises and doubles in size.
  3. When the dough has risen, place it in the pan and leave it aside for 1 hour to rise again. Then bake it in the oven at 180 degrees until browned....

  4. Remove it and leave it aside to cool, then prick it with a toothpick, pour the hot syrup over it, and leave it to absorb well. After that, place it in the refrigerator until the next day, then cut it and fill it with pastry cream and decorate it as desired...
