Ingredients
- Half a kilo of fava beans (suitable for ful medames)
- Two tablespoons of yellow cracked lentils
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon dried coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
Method
- Cover the fava beans with clean water and soak them for 12 hours or overnight with half a teaspoon of baking sodaTimers: 720 min
- The next day... wash the beans and place them in a pot over the heat, covering them with clean water, of course, to just above their level. Add another half teaspoon of baking soda, half a teaspoon of turmeric, half a teaspoon of cumin, and the cracked lentils
- Lower the heat after boiling and let the beans simmer until tender.... They won't need much time because of the baking soda
- When the fava beans are cooked, discard the cooking water and cover the beans again with clean water. Add the remaining turmeric and cumin, along with 1 teaspoon dried coriander
