Sfouf
Sfouf is one of the easiest and quickest traditional desserts to make. This type of sweet is also valued for the many health benefits of turmeric, known as 'aqdat safra' in some countries.
Ingredients

- 3 cups chickpea flour
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 cup powdered milk
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup melted butter or (vegetable oil)
- 2 cups water
- 4 teaspoons turmeric
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Dissolve the sugar in the 2 cups of water with the turmeric, then add the melted butter or vegetable oil, as desired.
- Mix the plain flour, chickpea flour, powdered milk, and baking powder together, then gradually add them to the sugar and butter mixture. Mix well using a wooden spoon.
- Pour the fairly thick mixture into a tray greased with butter or tahini.
- Add nuts as desired, such as almonds, pine nuts, or pistachios.
- Place the sfouf tray in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 30 to 40 minutes in the middle rack.Timers: 40 min
- In the last two minutes, turn on the top heat to brown the sfouf cake for just two minutes.
