Lahmacun Turkish-style... Lahmacun has many fans in Turkey as well. Here is the Turkish lahmacun method!

Ingredients

  • For the dough:
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons yogurt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • For the filling:
  • 250 g minced meat
  • A large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced small
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon sweet red pepper powder or paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt, or to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Method

  1. Mix the dough ingredients, gradually add the warm water and knead until you obtain a soft, uniform dough.
  2. Cover it with plastic wrap and a kitchen towel and leave it in a warm place to rest and rise.
  3. Prepare the filling: mix all the filling ingredients together, then put them in a sieve to drain excess liquid and keep in the fridge.
  4. When the dough has risen, divide it into medium-sized balls. On a clean surface, dust a little flour under each ball and roll each into a round.
  5. Place a little of the filling on each round dough disc, arranging them on oiled baking trays.
  6. Bake the Turkish-style lahmacun in a hot oven until the bottoms brown and they are cooked through.
