Lava Cake with Ice Cream

Anyone who loves chocolate, especially dark chocolate, will find this their favorite recipe! Lava cake, or molten cake, with flowing chocolate and ice cream: an easy recipe that is simply irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 100 grams or 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup dark bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons sifted white flour

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Put the chocolate, butter and sugar in a small pot or heatproof bowl, place that pot in a larger pot with boiling water, and set both over low heat until the mixture fully melts; this stage is called a bain-marie.
  2. After the chocolate, sugar and butter have melted, set the mixture aside for about 5 minutes.

  3. Whisk the eggs with the vanilla, then add the eggs gradually to the chocolate-sugar mixture while stirring continuously. Add the flour and continue whisking.
  4. Pour the batter into small cake molds greased with butter and dusted with a sprinkle of cocoa.
  5. Place a piece of chocolate in each mold and put the tray and molds into a preheated oven at 180°C for 12 to 15 minutes, baking from the bottom only.
