Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. In a separate bowl, mix the eggs and vanilla and lightly beat the eggs with a fork.
  2. In a deep bowl, using an electric mixer, mix the sugar and soft butter until you get a light, fluffy mixture and the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add the eggs gradually and slowly, continuing to beat until well combined.
  4. Add the sifted flour mixture gradually and slowly as well, continuing to beat, then add the sour cream or buttermilk and continue mixing.
  5. Pour the mixture into the cake pan or tray and bake the cardamom cake in the preheated oven at 180 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes, or depending on the oven, until the cake is fully cooked.

  6. Add about 2 tablespoons water and start stirring the sugar layer with a wooden spoon.
  7. Add 3/4 cup orange juice, but add it gradually while stirring constantly until the sugar layer dissolves.
  8. Add 3 whole cardamom pods to the mixture so the orange syrup takes on the cardamom flavor.
  9. Peel one orange and cut it into thin slices, then place the orange slices over the sugar and orange juice mixture.
  10. Leave the ingredients for a few minutes, then remove from the heat and set aside until cool.
  11. Meanwhile, the cake will have cooled as well. Prick the cake in several places with a knife, then pour the orange syrup over the cake so it soaks into it.
  12. Arrange the cooked orange slices on top of the cake and serve. Enjoy!
  13. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Grease the cake pan or suitable cake mold with butter or tahini and set aside.
