Rice pudding — a successful, delicious homemade recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup short-grain rice
  • 1/2 cup sugar + 1 tablespoon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange blossom water
  • For garnish:
  • coconut
  • cinnamon
  • pistachios
  • raisins

Method

  1. Soak the rice and set it aside
  2. Before adding the milk to the pot, rinse the pot with water without drying it to prevent the milk from sticking to the bottom, then pour the milk into the pot over low heat
  3. When the milk boils ... drain the rice well and add it to the milk, stir it slightly, and leave the pot over low heat, stirring from time to time until the rice is fully cooked
  4. Add the sugar and stir until it completely dissolves
  5. Let the rice pudding simmer until the mixture thickens, stirring occasionally
  6. Add the vanilla and orange blossom water, stir, then turn off the heat
  7. Pour the rice pudding into small cups and garnish as desired with nuts, cinnamon, shredded coconut, or other toppings
  8. Let the rice pudding cool completely before serving; it can be served at room temperature or chilled from the refrigerator
