Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. In a bowl, beat the butter, cheese, and sugar until the mixture is light and creamy.
  2. Add the egg and vanilla, and beat.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt, then add them to the butter mixture in the first bowl.
  4. Stir until you have a smooth dough.
  5. Divide the dough into two halves, add one drop of a different food coloring to each half, and knead well until colored.
  6. Wrap the dough in cling film and refrigerate it for 2 hours.
    Timers: 120 min
  7. After 2 hours, begin working with the dough.
  8. Roll out each dough on a surface lightly dusted with flour so that its thickness after rolling is slightly under 0.5 cm.
  9. Use a round cookie cutter to cut the dough.
  10. Using a slightly smaller round cutter, make an inner circle in each cookie to an appropriate depth, taking care not to cut through completely.
  11. With a wooden skewer, make two holes in the center of each cookie so they resemble a button.
  12. Gently lift the cookies from the surface and arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  13. Chill the trays in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before baking in a preheated oven at 175°C.
    Timers: 15 min
  14. Bake the colorful button cookies for 8 to 10 minutes.
    Timers: 10 min
  15. When done, remove them from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
  16. Serve the colorful button cookies once completely cooled.
