Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 3/4 cup (180 g) butter, at room temperature
- 1/4 cup (32 g) cream cheese
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Food coloring, as desired

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- In a bowl, beat the butter, cheese, and sugar until the mixture is light and creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla, and beat.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt, then add them to the butter mixture in the first bowl.
- Stir until you have a smooth dough.
- Divide the dough into two halves, add one drop of a different food coloring to each half, and knead well until colored.
- Wrap the dough in cling film and refrigerate it for 2 hours.Timers: 120 min
- After 2 hours, begin working with the dough.
- Roll out each dough on a surface lightly dusted with flour so that its thickness after rolling is slightly under 0.5 cm.
- Use a round cookie cutter to cut the dough.
- Using a slightly smaller round cutter, make an inner circle in each cookie to an appropriate depth, taking care not to cut through completely.
- With a wooden skewer, make two holes in the center of each cookie so they resemble a button.
- Gently lift the cookies from the surface and arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Chill the trays in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before baking in a preheated oven at 175°C.Timers: 15 min
- Bake the colorful button cookies for 8 to 10 minutes.Timers: 10 min
- When done, remove them from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
- Serve the colorful button cookies once completely cooled.
