Recipe story

Homemade labneh balls in olive oil, a tried-and-true recipe and one of the most delicious and famous Lebanese and Levantine pantry recipes!

Ingredients

  • 2 kilograms yogurt
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons salt
  • How to Make Easy Apple Cake

Method

  1. Prepare a large piece of cloth, preferably muslin or cheesecloth.
  2. Place the cloth in a strainer, then add the yogurt and salt and stir. Pour it over the cloth in the strainer. Place a wide, deep bowl under the strainer, and if the weather is hot, put it in the fridge. Whenever the bowl fills with the yogurt liquid or whey, empty it until the labneh becomes firm. You can also place it in a cloth bag until the yogurt drains.
  3. Take a small amount of labneh and shape it into a ball, then place it on a tray lined with cloth. Continue until you finish the quantity.
  4. Leave the balls, or labneh balls, until they become slightly firm, turning them from time to time for one day or more.
  5. Put the olive oil in a jar, then pack the labneh balls into the jar until they are completely covered with oil
