How to Make a Striped Cake

Striped cake — one of the simplest cakes. Many people can make it, but here’s the secret to its striped look: a very ordinary trick gives you a milk-and-chocolate striped cake.

Striped cake — couldn’t be easier!!

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • warm
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Beat the eggs with an electric mixer, then add the vanilla, sugar, and vinegar; beat until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
  2. Add the salt, then the oil and milk, and continue beating for 10 minutes.
    Timers: 10 min
  3. Sift the flour and baking powder and add them gradually, folding from top to bottom with a wooden spoon until the batter is smooth.
  4. Divide the batter into two portions. Leave the first plain (white) and add the cocoa to the second; fold from bottom to top to combine (do not stir).
  5. Grease the cake pan with oil and dust it with flour. Start by placing a layer of the white batter, then a layer of the cocoa batter, and continue alternating until all the batter is used — this creates the striped effect.
  6. Place the pan in an oven set for top-and-bottom heat and preheated to 180°C for 40 minutes, or adjust according to your oven while monitoring the bake
    Timers: 40 min
  7. Let the cake cool before turning it out onto a serving plate and serving.
