How to Make Cake Pops
A homemade cake pops recipe — it couldn’t be easier. Turning leftover or dry cake into attractive little balls is perfect for birthdays or entertaining.

Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- Pre-made cake
- 2 tablespoons buttercream or Philadelphia cream cheese mixed with 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- Chocolate
- Decoration
- Sprinkles for decoration
- Cake pop sticks or wooden skewers

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Trim the browned, hard edges off the cake and use only the soft crumb.
- Place the cake pieces in a food processor and pulse until you have fine cake crumbs, then add buttercream or cream cheese with sugar and pulse again.
- Take a little of the mixture in your hands and try to roll it into a ball — if it isn't holding together, add a little more cream to the mixture and pulse until you can shape the balls easily.
- Shape the balls, then place them in the freezer for 20 minutes to firm up.Timers: 20 min
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave and stir well until the pieces are fully melted.
- Dip the tip of each stick in chocolate, then insert it into the center of a ball, repeating until all are done.
- Return the cake pops to the freezer for 20 minutes, then dip the balls in the chocolate and decorate with nonpareils or fondant or as desired.Timers: 20 min
