Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon instant yeast 1/2 cup warm milk 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 cups flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons yogurt
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • Any available type of cream cheese
  • Syrup or sherbet
  • We arrange the cheese balls, one ball of the white dough next to one ball of the dark dough in a special oven tray and let them rest for 10 minutes before putting them in the oven

  1. In a deep bowl, combine the warm milk with the sugar, vegetable oil, and yeast, and set the mixture aside for 10 minutes until activated.... .

  2. In another bowl, add the flour, salt, baking powder, and yogurt, and mix the ingredients well.
  3. Mix the ingredients well, then add the flour mixture to the sugar, milk, and oil mixture and knead well.
  4. Divide the dough into two parts: leave one part plain and add the cocoa to the other part.
  5. Let the dough rest for about an hour.
  6. Cut both the white and brown dough into small balls. Stuff them with cream cheese; place a little cheese in each ball and seal it well like a ball.
  7. Arrange the cheese balls, one white dough ball next to one dark dough ball, in an ovenproof baking tray and let them rest for 10 minutes before placing them in the oven.

  8. Bake the chess honeycomb tray in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 25 minutes, or until well cooked, depending on your oven's strength.

  9. As soon as the chess honeycomb comes out of the oven while still hot, drizzle it with syrup, honey, or sweetened condensed milk.
