Easy Sponge Cake Recipe

Sponge cake... one of the easiest and lightest cakes... and nothing beats it with a cup of tea after a heavy lunch :)
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 6 eggs
- Liquid vanilla
- 1.5 cups sugar or to taste
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup liquid milk
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Beat the eggs well with the vanilla using an electric mixer.
- Add the sugar gradually and continue beating until you get a thick, creamy mixture.
- Add the milk and oil and continue beating.
- Sift the flour and baking powder and add them gradually, folding with a wooden spoon or spatula from bottom to top without circular stirring.
- Pour three quarters of the batter into a buttered and floured baking pan, and set the remaining portion aside.
- Add the cocoa to the reserved portion and stir well.
- Pour the cocoa batter over the first portion in the pan.
- Place the pan into a preheated oven at 150°C for about one hour; test the cake with a small wooden skewer.
- When the cake has cooled, invert it onto a serving plate and serve.
