Petit four without oil — here’s a delicious, special homemade recipe.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 1 1/2 cups butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup powdered (confectioners') sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • a small pinch of salt
  • For chocolate petit fours: 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder + 1 teaspoon butter

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. In the mixer bowl, put room-temperature butter with powdered sugar and beat until the mixture becomes creamy.
  2. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch and baking powder with a small pinch of salt and sift them.
  4. Add them to the butter mixture and whisk with a hand whisk, a spoon, or by hand.
  5. Divide the mixture into two portions; to one portion add cocoa and 1 teaspoon butter and mix well.
  6. Chill the petit four dough in the refrigerator for about half an hour.
  7. After the time has passed, shape the petit fours and place the pieces on parchment paper on a baking tray.
  8. Put the tray into a preheated oven at 180°C for only 10 to 12 minutes.

  9. When the petit fours are cool, decorate them as desired.
