How to Make the Best Rice Pudding
Rice pudding is one of the tastiest and lightest desserts, and it could not be easier to make. Some people add pouring cream, while others prefer the traditional way our grandmothers made it. Which do you prefer?
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 3 liters liquid milk
- 600 ml pouring cream
- 440 grams sugar
- 350-380 grams short-grain rice
- 1 teaspoon ground mastic (mixed with a little sugar)
- 20 grams vanilla
- Orange blossom water and rose water, a pinch or to taste
- Nuts and cinnamon for garnish
Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Place the milk and cream in a pot over medium heat, stirring until it comes to a boil.
- Add the washed and drained rice, stirring constantly so the rice or milk does not stick to the pot.
- Cook over medium heat for about 30 to 40 minutes, making sure the rice grains are cooked through.Timers: 40 min
- When the rice is fully cooked, add the ground mastic, vanilla, and sugar, and continue stirring for another 25 to 35 minutes until the mixture thickens.Timers: 35 min
- Finally, add a pinch of rose water and a pinch of orange blossom water, stir, and turn off the heat.
- Pour the rice pudding into cups, let it cool, and garnish with nuts and cinnamon, if desired.
- Serve the rice pudding at room temperature or chilled.
