Homemade Chicken Shawarma

A recipe and method for making chicken shawarma in a home style that's easy and very tasty. You can serve chicken shawarma with fries and garlic sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken breast, sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon seven-spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch black pepper
  • Pinch white pepper
  • Pinch garlic powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • Pinch turmeric (yellow)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika or sweet red pepper
  • 2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped
  • Zest of 1 lemon

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Wash the boneless chicken pieces well and cut them into lengthwise strips.
  2. Mix the chicken with the spices and all marinade ingredients and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

  3. When it's time to cook the chicken shawarma, place the mixture in an ovenproof tray and roast in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked.
