Ingredients

  • Half a kilo of ground meat
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of sweet red paprika
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper paste
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 grated onion
  • 2 grated tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pine nuts, optional

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Mix the grated onion, spices, and salt with the ground meat. Mix well until the meat mixture is combined.
  2. Shape the meat into medium or small balls, depending on your preference.
  3. Fry the meatballs in olive oil, turning them until they change color on all sides.
  4. Add the hot pepper paste, tomato paste, and grated tomatoes over the meatballs, along with the salt. Reduce the heat and cover the pot. You can add a little water, about 1/2 cup, if needed.
  5. Leave the Dawood Basha over the heat until the meat is cooked and the sauce thickens slightly. It will take about 15 minutes.

  6. Serve the rice alongside the Dawood Basha, and you can top it with fried pine nuts.
