https://player.vimeo.com/video/233548692 \r\n\r\nIngredients:\r\n2 cups hulled lentils\r\n1/2 cup Egyptian rice\r\n3 dried onions, finely chopped\r\n2 tablespoons vegetable oil\r\n1 saffron thread and turmeric\r\n1 teaspoon saffron\r\nSalt\r\nCumin\r\n2 small carrots, diced\r\n2 celery stalks\r\nWater as needed\r\n\r\nPreparation:\r\nPut the rinsed lentils in a pot and bring to a boil for about 15 minutes, then add the rice and let the mixture boil a bit longer to thicken.\r\nAdd the carrot and celery and simmer on low heat.\r\nMeanwhile, fry the onions until tender and slightly brown.\r\nAdd the fried onions to the lentil-rice pot. Ingredients

  • 2 cups split lentils
  • 1/2 cup Egyptian rice
  • 3 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon Aqda Safra (turmeric)
  • 1 teaspoon saffron
  • salt
  • cumin
  • 2 carrots, chopped into small pieces
  • 2 celery stalks
  • water as needed

Method

  1. Place the washed split lentils into a pot or saucepan over the stove. Let the lentils boil for about 15 minutes, then add the rice and bring the mixture to a boil and cook briefly.

  2. Add the chopped carrots and celery and let the mixture cook over low heat.
  3. Meanwhile, sauté the onions separately until they are cooked and slightly browned.
  4. Add the fried onions to the pot with the lentils and rice. Add the Aqda Safra (turmeric).
  5. Pound or lightly grind the saffron, then add it to the pot.
  6. Add the salt and cumin.
  7. Turn off the heat after several minutes.
