Ingredients
- 2 cups split lentils
- 1/2 cup Egyptian rice
- 3 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon Aqda Safra (turmeric)
- 1 teaspoon saffron
- salt
- cumin
- 2 carrots, chopped into small pieces
- 2 celery stalks
- water as needed
Method
- Place the washed split lentils into a pot or saucepan over the stove. Let the lentils boil for about 15 minutes, then add the rice and bring the mixture to a boil and cook briefly.Timers: 15 min
- Add the chopped carrots and celery and let the mixture cook over low heat.
- Meanwhile, sauté the onions separately until they are cooked and slightly browned.
- Add the fried onions to the pot with the lentils and rice. Add the Aqda Safra (turmeric).
- Pound or lightly grind the saffron, then add it to the pot.
- Add the salt and cumin.
- Turn off the heat after several minutes.
