Chicken Shawarma Sandwiches
Homemade chicken shawarma—easy, quick, and delicious. It’s especially tasty with fries, garlic sauce, and pickles. This recipe also includes a tahini-based tartar (طرطور) sauce.
Chicken shawarma... one of the tastiest quick recipes of Arab cuisine. Shawarma in its many forms is among the most requested sandwiches at restaurants — why buy it when you can make a tastier, cleaner version at home? Here is a wonderful method
Ingredients
Start here, then move straight into the method.
- 1/2 kg (500 g / about 1.1 lb) boneless chicken breast
- 1 teaspoon ready-made chicken shawarma spice mix
- 1/2 teaspoon fine paprika
- 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Tartar (Tahini) Sauce
- 2 tablespoons tahini
- 1 tablespoon plain yogurt
- Salt
- A pinch of chopped parsley
- A little water as needed

Method
Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.
- Slice the chicken breast into thin lengthwise strips.
- Add the remaining ingredients over the chicken, mix well and let it marinate.
- After half an hour, pan-fry the chicken shawarma in a skillet over medium heat.
- Serve with garlic sauce or the tartar/tahini sauce and pickles. It’s best served as sandwiches.
- Whisk the sauce ingredients together well and serve the tartar.
