Semolina Cone Sweets with Dates

A wonderful recipe for making biscuits or ka'ak cones with semolina and dates. A tried-and-tested homemade recipe made with simple ingredients, and we highly recommend giving it a try.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of vanilla
  • Pitted dates
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of ground cardamom
  • A pinch of fennel
  • A pinch of anise
  • Fennel and anise, to taste

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Mix the flour with the semolina, baking powder, vanilla, and salt, then add the water and oil, meaning all the ingredients except the dates.
  2. Knead the dough, then let it rest for 10 minutes. Divide the dough into small balls, and do the same with the dates.
    Timers: 10 min
  3. Then flatten each dough ball and place a small ball of date filling inside.
  4. Roll the dough into a Swiss roll shape, sealing the sides well.
  5. After finishing the rolling, fry the date-filled dough rolls in oil, then sprinkle granulated sugar over them while they are still hot so it sticks.
  6. Cut them in half with a knife and arrange them on a serving platter.
