Method
- Leave the ready-made baklava dough aside until the ice melts if it is frozen, then start preparing the filling.
- Grind cashews, almonds, or walnuts as desired, but be sure to grind them very finely. Add orange blossom water or rose water, or both, to the ground nuts, along with 1 tablespoon sugar, and mix well until you get a cohesive mixture.
- Roll out the baklava dough and brush each sheet with a little ghee. Place ghee between each layer of baklava dough.
- That is, place the first layer, then ghee, then another sheet of baklava dough on top, then brush it with ghee, then a third sheet, and so on.
- Prepare the filling and place some of it לאורך the dough, then roll it into a cylinder and cut it as shown in the picture. (Do not use too much filling inside the dough so it does not spill out of the baklava sheets.)
- Arrange the baklava pieces in an oven tray and pour a generous amount of ghee over them. Bake in the oven until golden brown on both the bottom and top.
- Prepare the syrup. When the baklava pieces are browned, remove any excess ghee and pour the syrup over them while they are still hot so they absorb it well.
