Recipe story
Rose-shaped petit fours — the classic bteefor cookie presented in a beautiful way
Ingredients
- 250 g butter at room temperature
- 1 egg
- 150 g powdered sugar
- 50 g cornstarch
- 2 tbsp corn oil
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 500 g flour (or as needed)
- a pinch of salt
Method
- Rub the butter with the vanilla, egg and sugar until soft, then add the cornstarch, salt, oil and baking powder and continue rubbing or kneading by hand well until the texture is creamy.
- After that, add the flour gradually and knead; when the dough becomes firm and non-sticky, stop adding flour.
- Divide the dough into two halves; to the first half add the cocoa, to the other half add one tablespoon of flour then knead again.
- Roll both doughs thin and cut them into very, very small circles; then start arranging every 4 or 5 circles side by side so that the edge of each circle overlaps the edge of the next, arranging them also in a semicircle to get a rose or flower shape—see the photo.
- Place the rose-shaped petit fours on parchment paper on a baking tray, then put them in a hot oven on the middle rack at 160°C.
- When the bottoms of the roses begin to brown, turn off the oven and broil them slightly from the top; each broiling process needs only 10 to 15 minutes depending on the oven strength.Timers: 15 min
- Serve the rose-shaped petit fours when they have cooled to room temperature.
- Rose-shaped petit fours are very delicious with tea.
