Easy Traditional Cake

Traditional cake... who doesn't love this easy cake recipe?! No decorations or extras... Make it with simple, readily available ingredients and enjoy it light with tea or coffee. The kids will love it too.

Traditional cake ..this is the homemade plain cake recipe with no decoration... and it couldn't be easier!!

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest - optional
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup liquid milk or juice, as desired
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Beat the eggs with an electric mixer together with the vanilla and lemon zest.
  2. Add the sugar and continue beating until it dissolves and the mixture becomes thick and pale.
  3. Add the milk or juice and the oil and continue beating.
  4. In another bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder and add them over the mixture; stir until the cake batter is uniform.
  5. Grease the cake pan with butter and dust it with flour, then pour the batter into it.
  6. Place the pan in the preheated oven on the middle rack at 180°C for about 45 minutes or until cooked and lightly browned.

  7. Let the traditional cake cool to room temperature, then invert it onto a serving plate.
