Kunafa made with ready-made puff pastry... limitless creativity in the kitchen

Ingredients

  • Ready-made puff pastry
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • A box of cream (qimir) - optional
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • Sugar syrup (qatir or shira)

Method

  1. Grease the baking pan with 2 tablespoons of butter, then lay two sheets of puff pastry in the bottom and up the sides of the pan
  2. Spread mozzarella cheese mixed with cream, or without cream if you prefer
  3. Fold the edges over the filling, then place another layer of puff pastry to completely cover the filling
  4. Brush the top with butter
  5. Place the kunafa with puff pastry on the middle oven rack and bake at 200°C for about half an hour
  6. Watch the pan constantly and bake until the pastry begins to brown
  7. When you remove the kunafa with puff pastry from the oven, pour cold syrup over it and serve
