Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons powdered milk
  • a small pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water, more can be added depending on the flour and the dough's needs

Method

  1. Mix all the ingredients well, cover the dough, and leave it in a warm place.
  2. Then begin frying the awamat in very hot, deep oil; remove them from the heat after frying and place them in a strainer to drain off the oil. Then place them directly into cold syrup (qatir or sheera).
