Shaibiyat

A new recipe and a different way to serve shaibiyat with ashta. Shaibiyat is a classic, traditional sweet, but we can always add our own touches, especially in the final decorating stage.

Ingredients

Start here, then move straight into the method.

  • 3 cups of flour (dough)
  • Half a cup of oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar syrup (qatir)
  • Half a cup of yogurt
  • Half a cup of milk
  • Ashta (qaimar)
  • Cream (ashta)
  • 2 cups of liquid milk
  • 4 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon of rose water
  • 1 teaspoon of orange blossom water
  • Sugar syrup
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon (juice)
  • 1 teaspoon of rose water
  • 1 teaspoon of orange blossom water

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Knead the ingredients together well and leave the dough for about 4 hours until it rises well... Then divide the dough into 20 pieces
    Timers: 240 min
  2. Roll out each piece of dough separately, sprinkling cornstarch or butter as desired between each layer and arranging them one on top of the other
  3. Then roll them out, or flatten them all with a rolling pin, then roll them together to form a cylinder and cut them again into individual pieces.
  4. Flatten each piece slightly and fill it with ashta
  5. Brush the tops of the shaibiyat with butter or ghee, as desired, and place them in a preheated oven to bake.
  6. Repeat brushing the tops of the shaibiyat 4 times until golden
  7. Put them on the stove until the mixture boils and thickens
