Recipe story
Lentil and bulgur mujaddara... a very special traditional dish. It's good to remind you of these nutritious and healthy recipes
Ingredients
- 1 cup lentils
- 1/2 cup bulgur (fine or coarse, depending on what you have at home)
- 2 onions
- salt
- oil for frying
- about 10 cups water for boiling the lentils

Method
- Wash the lentils and put them in a pot with water over medium heat; let them boil until cooked.
- At this time, slice the onions and place them in a frying pan with oil over the heat; sauté until they begin to brown, then add them to the lentils, stir a little, and let the lentils continue to simmer until fully cooked.
- When the amount of water is reduced and the lentils are well cooked, remove the pot from the heat and let the lentils cool slightly, then place them in an electric blender and puree them well.
- When finished, return the lentil mixture to the pot, add the bulgur and salt, and place over very low heat, stirring continuously until the lentil-and-bulgur mujaddara thickens.
- Spoon the mujaddara onto plates and serve hot or cold with vegetables, olive oil, pomegranate molasses, and lemon.
