How to Make Lqtain Jam

Traditional Lqtain Jam

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo lqtain
  • 1 kilo sugar
  • 1 teaspoon citric acid
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Soaking the lqtain
  • 2/3 cup lime
  • 10 cups water

Method

Follow the cooking sequence without leaving the page.

  1. Peel the lqtain and cut it as desired
  2. Add lime (calcium hydroxide) and water to the lqtain and stir, then leave them for some time until the lime settles at the bottom of the container
  3. Strain off the water and leave the lqtain soaked with the settled lime at the bottom for 12 hours

  4. After the time has passed, wash the lqtain well and let it drain
  5. Put one tablespoon of lemon juice on it, stir and leave it for ten minutes
  6. Add sugar so that it covers all the lqtain, then leave it to soak for 5 hours

  7. Place the lqtain in a pot over the heat for about one and a half hours
  8. In the final stage, add the lemon juice, stir and remove the lqtain jam from the heat
  9. Pour the lqtain jam into jars or sterilized airtight glass containers and leave it to cool before sealing the jars or containers
