Turmeric rice ... delicious with all kinds of dishes. Turmeric is very beneficial for immunity, and it is a good idea to add it to various dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • Oil and ghee
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 4 cups rice
  • Salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable stock seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon yellow turmeric (kurdum)
  • 1/4 cup corn
  • 1/4 cup peas
  • 1/4 cup chopped carrot, optional
  • 7 cups water

Method

  1. Sauté the chopped onion in a little oil and ghee. (Add the carrot at this stage if you want it.) Add the listed seasonings on top.
  2. Soak the rice for a quarter of an hour, then wash and drain it. When the onion softens, add the rice on top and stir.
  3. Add the spices and salt and stir, then add the canned boiled corn and frozen peas.
  4. Add the water and stir, then wait for the water to boil before reducing the heat.
  5. Let the turmeric rice cook over low heat until it is done.
  6. Serve the rice immediately; it is especially delicious alongside fried or grilled fish or tawook.
