Turmeric rice ... delicious with all kinds of dishes. Turmeric is very beneficial for immunity, and it is a good idea to add it to various dishes.
Ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- Oil and ghee
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cardamom pods
- 4 cups rice
- Salt
- 1 tablespoon vegetable stock seasoning
- 1 teaspoon yellow turmeric (kurdum)
- 1/4 cup corn
- 1/4 cup peas
- 1/4 cup chopped carrot, optional
- 7 cups water

Method
- Sauté the chopped onion in a little oil and ghee. (Add the carrot at this stage if you want it.) Add the listed seasonings on top.
- Soak the rice for a quarter of an hour, then wash and drain it. When the onion softens, add the rice on top and stir.
- Add the spices and salt and stir, then add the canned boiled corn and frozen peas.
- Add the water and stir, then wait for the water to boil before reducing the heat.
- Let the turmeric rice cook over low heat until it is done.
- Serve the rice immediately; it is especially delicious alongside fried or grilled fish or tawook.
