Turmeric chicken rice... an easy, flavorful dish for the whole family

Ingredients

  • 2 cups American rice
  • 4 chicken breasts, cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric (or "Aqdah Safra")
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon seven-spice mix (baharat)
  • Salt, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • Toasted seeds or nuts for garnish
  • Parsley for garnish
  • Pomegranate seeds for garnish
  • 4 cups water

Method

  1. Put the oil in a pot over the heat and add the chicken pieces with salt and half the amount of turmeric, curry, and seven-spice mix; stir until the chicken pieces are cooked.
  2. Add the ghee, carrots, rice, and the remaining spices and stir a little.
  3. Add water and leave it on high heat until it boils, then reduce the heat and cover the pot.
  4. Let the turmeric chicken rice cook on low heat.
  5. Serve the rice and garnish it with parsley, dried fruit and nuts, and pomegranate seeds.
