Ingredients
- Half a kilo shelled green fava beans
- 2 dried onions
- Olive oil
- 1 cup basmati rice or long-grain rice
- 2 cups water for each cup of rice
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried vegetable seasoning
- Salt to taste
Method
- Finely chop the onion and sauté it in olive oil until softened
- Add the shelled green fava beans, after washing them of course, and stir, then lower the heat
- Stir the green fava beans with the sautéed onions until the beans begin to soften
- Add the hot water, cover the pot, and let the water come to a boil over medium heat for enough time until the fava beans are well cooked
- Add the rice, salt, and spices, stir, and let the water boil
- When the water level reaches the rice, lower the heat and cover the pot for about half an hour
- Serve the rice with fava beans hot with yogurt or salad
- Note.. Adding minced meat to this recipe is optional. Some people prepare it with minced meat
