Rice with peas and ground beef — a very simple, rich recipe suitable for the whole family

Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 kg peas (in pods)
  • 1 onion
  • 500 g ground beef
  • Black pepper
  • Cinnamon
  • Toasted nuts for garnish

Method

  1. Shell the peas from their pods, then wash and drain them.
  2. In a pot over the stove, sauté the chopped onion until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook it until it dries and changes color.
  4. Add salt, pepper, and cinnamon and stir, then add the washed and drained peas.
  5. Stir until the peas are cooked.
  6. When the filling is cooked, remove only a portion of it and set it aside to use later as a garnish.
  7. Add the washed and drained basmati rice on top of the filling and stir.
  8. Cover them with water; when it comes to a boil reduce the heat and leave the rice with peas and ground beef on low heat until it is cooked.
  9. Transfer the rice to a serving dish and top with the reserved portion of filling and fried nuts as desired.
