- 1 cup lentils, 3 1/2 cups water, about 6 dried onions (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup coarse bulgur
- Salt
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil

Method
- Place the lentils, after sorting, removing debris, and washing, in a pot on the stove with water....
- In a second pot, put the onions with 2/3 cup of vegetable oil
- When the lentils are cooked, reduce the heat and continue stirring the onions in the second pot until they turn a very good brown; then add some of the lentil cooking water over them....
- Let the onions boil for a short time, then add them over the lentils, then add 1/2 cup coarse bulgur and 1 tablespoon salt.
- Leave the mixture on low heat until the lentils and bulgur are well cooked and the water has dried.
- Pour the mujaddara into a serving dish and garnish as desired; it can be served with green salad and yogurt.
