Put half a cup of sugar in a pan and heat, stirring, until it caramelizes.
Pour the caramel into the cake pan, greasing the sides with some of it…
Mix the remaining ingredients together well, then pour the mixture into the pan over the caramel layer.

Whisk the eggs with the sugar and vanilla until thick and pale, then add the liquid ingredients and beat.
Add the dry ingredients in stages and mix.
Grease the top edges of the pan above the first layer with a little corn oil.
Pour the cake batter over the caramel flan mixture.
Place the cake pan in a baking tray filled with hot water (water bath) and bake in the center of the oven for 50 minutes at 180°C (350°F).
After the cake is cooked, let it cool slightly at room temperature.
Chill it in the refrigerator while still in the pan for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
To serve, place the cake pan in hot boiling water for 5 minutes, then invert onto the serving plate.
