Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered milk
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup cornstarch or cornflour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Orange blossom water
  • Rose water
  • 1 ready-made cream tub (qishta)
  • Syrup:
  • Meanwhile, start preparing the syrup...
  • To make the syrup, for each cup of water add 1 1/2 cups sugar... Bring the mixture to a boil until it thickens, then add a small squeeze of lemon juice. After that, add orange blossom water and remove the pot from the heat.
  • When serving the qashtaliyyeh, add the syrup and garnish with nuts as desired, such as almonds, walnuts, and finely chopped pistachios.

Method

  1. Mix the milk with the water, then add the cornstarch and whisk cold first until the starch and milk dissolve. Then place the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly, until it begins to thicken...
  2. Add the rose water and orange blossom water, then turn off the heat.
  3. Add the cream immediately and mix well, then pour into a serving dish and refrigerate......
