- 500 g flour
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp mahlab
- 1 tsp anise
- yeast
- 1/2 tsp butter
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- warm water for kneading
- sesame seeds for sprinkling on the dough
- egg yolk mixed with a little milk
Method
- First, mix the dry ingredients, then add the oil and water... Knead the mixture well and let the dough rest for about half an hour.
- Roll out the dough and shape it however you like for ka'ak, whether round, elongated, or in the style of ka'ak al-‘asrouniyyeh. Brush the dough pieces with the milk and egg mixture and sprinkle with sesame seeds... Let the pieces rest for a little longer before placing them in a preheated oven and baking until cooked through or golden brown...
