Ingredients

  • 500 g flour
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp mahlab
  • 1 tsp anise
  • yeast
  • 1/2 tsp butter
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • warm water for kneading
  • sesame seeds for sprinkling on the dough
  • egg yolk mixed with a little milk

Method

  1. First, mix the dry ingredients, then add the oil and water... Knead the mixture well and let the dough rest for about half an hour.
  2. Roll out the dough and shape it however you like for ka'ak, whether round, elongated, or in the style of ka'ak al-‘asrouniyyeh. Brush the dough pieces with the milk and egg mixture and sprinkle with sesame seeds... Let the pieces rest for a little longer before placing them in a preheated oven and baking until cooked through or golden brown...
